- The lower value is NZD 20,000 per year divided by twelve. The upper value combines official shared-house rent, food, transport, utilities and communications guidance.

- One tertiary student, tuition excluded. Auckland and private accommodation can cost more.

- The range uses two verified 120-credit international bachelor fees: applied science and nursing at Unitec.
