United Arab Emirates sources

Official sources and transparent limitations used for CampCareer's UAE wage-policy, student-cost, tuition, work-permit and study information.

National labour-data coverage and wage-policy benchmark

International Labour Organization, UAE Government and Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation

Data: 2024 survey metadata and 2026 policy thresholds
UAE Labour Force Survey 2024 and official salary thresholdsSecondary official source
Method
The reviewed national Labour Force Survey metadata covers employment, occupation and hours but does not publish an earnings distribution. The dashboard therefore uses AED 4,000 and AED 6,000 monthly official policy thresholds, annualised to AED 48,000–72,000, only as a policy-reference range. No official average salary is inferred.
Coverage and limits
The lower point is the salary condition used in the official skilled-work classification. The upper point is the 2026 minimum monthly salary for Emiratis employed in the private sector. These thresholds apply to different policy purposes and are not a market wage distribution, graduate salary range or universal minimum.

Minimum-wage treatment

UAE Government

Data: Checked 6 August 2026
Payment of salaries or wages
Method
The UAE Labour Law does not set one general minimum salary, so the evidence layer stores a null national hourly amount.
Coverage and limits
The AED 6,000 monthly rule for Emiratis in the private sector is retained as a specific policy exception. Contracts, occupational classifications and programme requirements may impose other salary conditions.

Student living costs

Khalifa University

Data: Checked 6 August 2026
International Student Cost of Living
Method
The dashboard stores Khalifa University's undergraduate monthly budget of AED 6,250 for on-campus living and AED 7,100 for off-campus living, excluding the tuition amounts shown separately on the source page.
Coverage and limits
Representative Abu Dhabi university scenarios for housing, transport, food and leisure. This is not a national average; deposits, insurance, flights and individual lifestyle differences may materially change costs.

Representative undergraduate tuition

Khalifa University and American University of Sharjah

Data: Academic year 2026/27
Undergraduate tuition and fees 2026/27Secondary official source
Method
The representative annual range uses Khalifa University's estimated BSc tuition of AED 81,250 and American University of Sharjah's AED 110,876 tuition for all undergraduate majors in 2026/27.
Coverage and limits
Selected mainstream undergraduate examples. Technology, laboratory, application, housing and insurance fees, scholarships and postgraduate programmes are excluded; this is not claimed as a national minimum or maximum.

Student work permission

Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation

Data: Checked 6 August 2026
Training and work permit for studentsSecondary official source
Method
No separate universal weekly student cap is published on the permit service. The comparison metric stores the private-sector maximum normal working time of 48 hours per week, subject to an approved student permit and contract.
Coverage and limits
The student permit is generally valid for three months and the service lists an AED 50 federal fee. Actual schedules may be lower, and age, residence, guardian consent, employer, free-zone and individual permit conditions control eligibility.

Student residence-permit fee

Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security

Data: Checked 6 August 2026
Issuing Residency Permit
Method
The calculation metric adds the AED 100 application fee, AED 100 first-year residence issuance fee and AED 100 smart-service fee, producing a base AED 300 planning amount.
Coverage and limits
Medical examination, Emirates ID, health insurance, status adjustment, deposits, sponsor or university administration charges and additional years are excluded. It is not added to the /visas catalogue.

Academic calendar

Khalifa University

Data: Academic year 2026/27
Academic Calendar
Method
The dashboard identifies August or September as the principal fall start and January as a selected spring entry point.
Coverage and limits
Exact orientation, teaching, admissions and spring-entry dates differ by university and programme.

National growth and research priorities

UAE Government

Data: Checked 6 August 2026
National Employment Strategy 2031 and Science, Technology and Innovation PolicySecondary official source
Method
Strong-major and opportunity labels are aligned to official priorities in AI and digital technology, advanced industry, energy, water, health, food security, transport, finance and knowledge-intensive services.
Coverage and limits
Strategic priorities indicate areas of investment and capability development, not guaranteed vacancies. Hiring depends on occupation, experience, licensing, language, employer policy and immigration status.

Last reviewed 6 August 2026. A national range describes its source population or stated planning scenario; it does not predict an individual's salary, expenses, admission, employment or residence-permit outcome.
